Dear Guadalupanas and Peregrinos

I would like to encourage all local groups of the “Pilgrimages for Vocations” to pray a memorial rosary for the soul of Archbishop Robert Sanchez. The rosary can be prayed the next time your group meets or take the opportunity to call all members together for this prayer. We will offer our two closing masses for the Mothers Day pilgrimage and the June pilgrimage for the soul of Archbishop Sanchez. Without the support of our brother and friend Archbishop Sanchez at the beginning and early growth of the pilgrimages, we would not have them today. For those old enough to remember it was not uncommon to have Archbishop Sanchez, unexpectedly drive up during the pilgrimage and walk with us.
Que Viva!
Archbishop Sanchez, may he rest in peace.

Blessings
Fr. Edmund Savilla
Overall Spiritual Director

Heart and Soul: A Story of Pilgrimage

Larry Russell, Brooklyn, New York

When I opened my journal today, the place where I had written about this year’s pilgrimage was marked by a handful of notes written to me by my fellow pilgrims walking from the Southwest. Six weeks later, I am at home, sitting at my kitchen table and writing.  I am still on pilgrimage, and I realize I am no less in God’s hands now than when my comrades wrote those words.  I tell people here at home my story of pilgrimage, but they can only grasp part of it.  It’s a different story to listeners, who know that the hundred miles is not remarkable, nor the heat nor the hills and the lack of sleep.  Those are conditions that prepare us for something more—that moment when our hearts break and we see our lives and those we love as though for the first time. But I am getting ahead of myself. Let me begin at the beginning.

Message from Antonio Gonzales

Hi everybody!

On Saturday, August 27th at 5:00 PM there will be a reunion of past and present peregrinos and guadalupanas (May & June). Mass will be at 5:00 PM and a meal will follow. This will take place at the Church of the Ascension in ABQ (2150 Raymac Rd. SW). Please spread the word to all the people you know who have walked in the past, currently part of the organization, or are thinking about walking in May or June in the future. This gathering will simply be an informal gathering in fellowship. Should be a lot of fun! Nice way to end the summer.....

Let me know if you have any questions. If not, hope to see you on the 27th!.

Closing Mass Poem ... 06/26/2011

Find: by Josh Gonzales

Our creator sees no barriers, language disappears.
The colors your cornea deciphers no longer exist.

We walk transparent in the valley of judgment.

Our material bodies have no tie with the network in the sky.
Flip your eyes right side in and observe your higher consciousness.

Feed it with the medication of meditation.

You must hold a knowledge of who you are in order to create the bridge of love with
others.

Refer to your dreams as they hold a reality of our mind.

Refer to the screams of the distraught and lost souls and hope they find peace in
another life.

A million footsteps could never compare to gliding adjacent to the clouds.
Looking down at the trees, the green and the sea. We can fly into lucidity.

A million footsteps could never compare to ascending above the atmosphere, our souls dwell until they find a closer proximity with you.

Like convolutions, the ground beneath us fluctuates.
But the soles of our feet and the souls who are we carry us on the twisted path of
Existentialism…

There is no fanny pack large enough to hold everything we need in this life and some are better predisposed than others.

As we walk on this critical quest, the test of life, a persons past is not always the present product or the future concept.

Songs travel from the diaphragms of devout individuals.
Harmony in different tongues.

Allow our bodies to absorb the aches and pains from mothers, children and the broken.
A million blisters will never be equivalent to the pain our people perceive.

So walk until you bleed, reach out to those in need.
We walk together and listen in silence.
